THOUGHTS ON FEEDING RAW MEAT
It has been proven that dogs are a direct descendent to
wolves. A wolfs diet in the wild consists primarily of raw
meat. Their strength and agility is achieved from exercise
and healthy meals that may result from that exercise. It
is rare to see an over weight wolf. Consider these facts
when you are challenged with the question, Why does a wolf
in the wild have half the life span as a wolf in captivity?
The average life span for a wolf in the wild is about half
the time as a wolf in captivity. A wolf in captivity has
a consistent diet, veterinary assistance, shelter, and are
not preyed on. Injuries due to rank establishment in a pack
are reduces or do not exist. Many wolves in captivity are
feed raw meat just like other species of animals that eat
raw meat in the wild. Note: raw meat is a great sourse of
protein and amino acides. Other nutrients should be substiuded.
We use Martin's
K9 Formula, Nupro
Supplement, and variations of raw meat for the
core feeding on our dogs.
Scientific proof has shown that teeth design can determine
what dinosaurs and animals eat. Herbivores have flat teeth.
Flat molars are designed to grind grain. Carnivores have
pointed teeth. Front to back, the teeth are designed to
tear meat and break bones. What do your dog’s teeth
look like?
CANNED & DRY FOOD HAZARDS
The only living creature on earth that evolved to eat cooked
foods is a human. Like humans additives such as coloring,
caramel, syrup, and flour in large amount can be detrimental.
The closer these ingredients are to the top of the list,
the higher the amount.
Dogs diets consisting of primarily foods with additives,
preservatives and hi carbohydrates can result in:
- Over weight pets
- Added stress to joint resulting from weight issues
- Sluggish behavior
- Stressful stool removal
- Anal gland issues resulting from stressful stool removal
- Itchy or dry skin
- Patchy hair
- Vomiting and diarrhea
- Plaque on teeth
- Bad breathe
- Diabetes
- Cancer
- Tumors
- Increase spread of cancer
- Increase speed of tumor growth
ADVANTAGES OF FEEDING RAW MEAT
Dogs diets consisting of raw meat can result in:
- Easier to control weight due to less calories in food
- Easier protein to digest
- Easier way to increase bitches protein during pregnancy
- Amino acids to help increasing lean muscle mass
- Healthy skin and coat from natural fats
Less hair loss
- Shiny coats
- Better smelling Breath
- Whiter teeth from enzymes that help clean off plaque
- Better smelling stool
- Easier stool removal
- Decrease in anal gland issues
- Can decrease risk of cancer
- Can decrease risk of tumors
- Can assist in slowing down caner growth
- Can assist in slowing down tumors
CANCER DIET
Cancer and tumors use sugar to ferment its cells creating
new cells. It is imperative to reduce the amount of sugar
and non-vegetable carbohydrates such as cereal and flour.
Increasing or continuing a diet with high sugar or non-vegetable
carbohydrates can assist in the spread of cancer and help
a tumor increase in size. Protein, omega 3, vitamin C, vegetable
vitamins and carbohydrates from vegetables should be increased.
This diet helped me with a 6 year old German Shepard I
was introduced to. At the age of six Roxy developed a massive
tumor in her lower abdomen. It was to late for any treatment.
Feeding the above regimen resulted in higher energy levels
and active behavior. Not feeding the above resulted in loss
of balance due to weekend conditioned and sluggish behavior.
Using this type of diet, we extended Roxy’s life and
remember her as an active dog up until her last day with
us. Not a long drawn out sad situation.
PERSONAL EXPERIENCE
In 2003 we retired a 13 year old German Shepard to heaven.
Sergio came to me late in his life along with my loving
girlfriend. Sergio had developed severe arthritis from a
previous injury in his teen years. He got tangled up with
a horse and broke his rear legs. Heeling well, he enjoyed
many years of running on the beach and playing ball. As
the years passed his metabolism slowed down and he started
to gain weight. Arthritis set in and Rimodel became a part
of his diet. Decrease in activity, increasing difficulty
in getting up walking and standing, chapped skin and stinky
breath were some of the issues that developed. Sergio moved
in with me. His diet was changed immediately. Dry food and
kitchen scrapes now became raw meat, ½ tsp flax seed
oil, Nupro Joint Support. He immediately dropped weight,
developed a healthier coat, no longer had bad breathe, had
white tips on his teeth with decreasing yellowing. His energy
levels increased dramatically. He still had slight issues
walking but was able to climb up and down the five steps
in my house. With a powerful torso, Sergio was able to get
in two to three gallops fetching a stick. Eventually old
age set in and Sergio was laid to rest. Now we have Arko.
Sergio and Arko did spend time together. The product sold
by USA K9 are the same product that Sergio, Arko, Juza,
Neiko, Max, & Cooper use.
On 2/24/06 our dog Juza got injured while playing with
Neiko. She had to go in for an x-ray. (She is well). At
10 years old the x-ray show no tumors of any kind. Genetics
and a great diet! Many dogs on poor diets don’t make
it this far without sings of fatty or cancer tumors.
STARTING RAW MEAT
When starting a meat diet, it’s recommended to divide
a 2.5lb sleeve into 1/16th or 1/8th depending on the size
of the pet and his tolerance for changing food. If there
is no change in stool or as stool hardens, the amount of
meat can be increased by 1/16th or 1/8th depending on how
you chose to feed your pet. I feed 1/3rd of a sleeve with1
½ to 2 cups of dry (Martin's
K9 Formula) and Nupro
Supplement. The sleeve can be divided up into
¼ or 1/8th depending on how small your pet is. I
use 1/3 to ½ for large to very large dogs.
SERVING RAW MEAT
The below instructions are based on how I feed our
dogs. If you chose to feed dry food, cut the amount
of dry food in half and substitute the rest with raw meat.
I use 1/3rd of a 2.5lb sleeve of meat with two cups of Martin's
K9 Formula and Nupro
Supplement. Dry food andmeat can be adjusted
for weight gain or loss. For smaller pets, the 2.5lb sleeve
can be cut into ¼ pieces or 1/8th for even smaller
pets.
If you chose not to serve dry food and want to go with
an all-natural diet, chopped broccoli, carrots and other
greens should be used for vitamins and carbohydrates. Note:
raw meat is a great sourse of protein and amino acides.
Other nutrients should be substiuded. We use Martin's
K9 Formula, Nupro
Supplement, and variations of raw meat for the
core feeding on our dogs.
Step 1: Defrost meat in tupperware. Do not throw out draining
blood.
Step 2: Add warm or hot water. Temperature will depend
on how defrosted the meat is.
Step 3: Cut 1/3 of meat into pets dish. Pour any drained
blood into the dish.
Step 4:Recommended: Add Nupro. Follow Nupro instructions
based on size of pet.
Step 5: Add dry food.
IMPORTANT: Dry food is cut back
due to the addition of meat. Approximately ½ the
amount less is recommended. Monitor you dogs weight for
accuracy of removing or adding dry food.
Step 6: Add water to dish and mix. Mix should be warm to
cool and should look like a bowl of soup.
This is for your dog not you. HANDS OFF!
Step 7: Serve.
